What I actually want from these tools is support, not autopilot. I want to learn faster, understand more deeply, and receive a nudge when I’m stuck. I want to analyze a new library, not have the AI build it for me from scratch. I want a second set of eyes, not a ghostwriter. … Vibe-coding is fine for prototypes but not for the real thing.

My own take with AI is that it can clearly do some useful stuff but this part of the hype cycle where it is being inserted into everything, is really obnoxious and dark and I am looking forward to the bubble popping.

I think, though I am not an economist or a historian, that the AI hype machine is much louder than it might have been had the technology come along in the 90s because here in 2025 we are at the crest of a Gilded Age of centralized wealth, and all the super wealthy tech companies and all the super wealthy VCs and all the super wealthy believe that we are already at maximum value extraction in the economy and the only way to grow is to corner the market on the hot new thing and if you miss this chance you won’t be the richest billionaire anymore.

Fuck those guys. We have climate change to solve.
