Blowin'

If the answers are blowing in the wind, then a lot of questions will be out of work tomorrow.

I'm still really unsettled as to whether I want to return to school next semeter. I don't really want to, so much, but I have been thinking it might be best. But then lately I've also given more weight to the earlier idea that it's better to put it off longer, and take a little vacation or sabbatical from work sometime when I've had too much of it.

And unfortunately, these answers aren't blowing in the wind. You see, I feel more comfortable at work nowadays, and it's taken some time to even start to carve out a proper niche for myself ... guess I really just gotta lean on getting a performance review as soon as possible, so I can tell what EnterAct feels I should do with my niche.

Gah. We had our first Team meeting today with our new manager, Mister Patrick Randall. I think we've all got positive feelings about Patrick and his role. Vernell and Paul in coder land started working with Ken, their new manager, yesterday. He seems like a really good guy too. This should all be good for morale around here.

Today, there was a goodly delay on the train ... I guess a tree got blown onto the tracks at Loyola, causing one train to get stuck, and requiring them to cut power to the northbound tracks during rush hour. Ouch. We were standing for quite awhile, and there was talk of shuttle bussing. Unfortunately, we were in a bad position as far as stopping at a station might be concerned. Fortunately, after a good amount of time, we got rolling again.

Daddy's Blues

So, I guess Dad got this sweet deal where a friend of his got him flown into town for a week of work on his studio. I met up with him Friday night coz I wanted to see a dumb movie - I was thinkin' Waterboy, but the fates worked better instead for The Siege. Oh boy ... shoulda held out for Adam Sandler's movie ... The Siege was just a bunch of cliched scenes kinda stuck together unimiginatively. Kinda like a Hollywood interpretation of Science Fiction ... just follow this formula. So while it had a few interesting moments, it just kinda limped through for two hours or so without ever really being too interesting.

Now, Adam Sandler running around head-butting folks for an hour and a half, I could have dealt with that.

Saturday, I met Dad at Buddy Guy's Living Legends - a live blues club just about half a mile from where I work. Actually, I met Dad, Gwen, and a whole mess of likeable inlaws, not to mention Jack McDuff, who was really impressive on the organ. Now, I normally can't stand Dick Buckley on WBEZ with his massive personal record collection, playing song after boring song for hours on end, but live Blues ... now that totally rocked, and I'll have to go again sometime. It got best roundabout 0100h when the crowd began to thin, the seats became more available, and the musicians became more impassioned.

I'll have to try the Blues again sometime.
