Point - Counterpoint

Hard to tell, when confronted with a blank pad at the end of a long day whether to write or doodle. The question turns to motivation. What is my goal? Do I have a goal? Which would then best address that goal? Should one even expend the effort? One shouldn't waste resources on an undetermined goal. It's kind of hard when your mind is blank and you end up staring at your awful handwriting knowing that what you write is really intended for the trash, or on a good night, the recycling bin.

But then isn't a great deal of what we do that much pulp? And can a truly wise person reduce all human activity to its ultimate pointlessness? Or is it the truth that in fact everything has some sort of point to it, even if it seems meager, that the point of something is perhaps its own point in itself, and whatever affect it has on all these other pointless things? After all, what is the universe composed of but a whole bunch of points with the common fact of existence between them?

Is it all bullshit, or is it all worthwhile. Or, ultimately, is it that bullshit and worthwhile is in fact one and the same, and the whole cosmos comes down to one's own point of view?

A rather pointed question, and a matter again of opinion as to whether it is profound or without point.

Well, that's the sort of drivel I come up with after a long day at work, headed over to Jeongie's place to chill. She was rather bushed too yesterday evening. We took a walk, wandered into a bookstore where I found the last-ever issue of Amiga Format ... seems like the great sentinel from Britain is folding its flag now. Amazing Amiga was two slots behind it on the rack ... a thin American counterpart. I noticed this familiar-looking Chinese lady who I never quite got the nerve up to talk to, though I really should have, as I suspected that she was lingering a bit around the magazine racks to allow me the opportunity.

Ahhh well, if she's familiar lookin' because I think I've seen her on the El before I may yet see her again. All good things in time or somesuch.

Still, I kinda want to hang out in a bookstore today. If nothing else there was this very interesting-looking picture book featuring the Volkswagen Beetle and its history. Michael's having a going-away party for Tracy this evening so it might be nice to drive down there, find some parking, and bum around for awhile anyway.

The question is whether to wash the car before I go or not.
