On Funk

[IMAGE: If Da
Bomb is dropped on Baghdad, the bootys of countless innocent Iraqi civilians
will be tragically loosened. Is that what we want, to turn millions of decent,
reserved Iraqis into free-spirited, dance-crazed party people? I think
not.]

Last night, I went with Dave, and Dave, and Sarah and Gregg to Legends. Somewhere since the conversation has come up that Legends is a dumb name for a bar ... White Horse, Murphys, Joes, Cochranes - which sounds a bit like "cock ring" ... but Legends?

My opinion is that Legends lacks in funk. It's not funky enough for me. Cochranes, with its tiny cramped dance floor and all, now that has some funk to it, but Legends seems appropriate for old people, or something.

As tends to happen when we're at a bar, we played darts. I like the electronic dart board which does all the thinking for you. All I gotta do is aim and shoot, and appreciate a little company.

So, Morris came by while I was working and offered me Pokey Sticks. I feel quite gorged. Ungh, or something. Morris got hisself a government job for the summer working on Cave applications at Argonne. He showed me his project he's working on right now where you enter chemical formulas and it gives you a three-dimensional plot of the molecule.

Yeah, that last sentance wasn't right.

Awards for March

Men of the Month
Nick Tsiakals, Jon Dugan, Mike, and the other people of Illini Life Christian Fellowship who spent the past week in Mexico building two houses, surviving a dust storm, sleeping in tents Jon managed to borrow from some Boy Scouts he knew, and generally being good people. Nick came back with lots of facial hair, a tan, and stories of how cool jon Dugan is. Jon's my boss. Nick and Mike both mentioned Jon, and when i mentioned to Linda that they had mentioned Jon, she mentioned that she also knew a Jon Dugan, though it's somewhat wondering if they are the same folk. Accolades to all those who have done or will be doing some sort of community-service type of Alternative Spring Break, or whatever.
Party of the Month
The hOl party really rocked, I think.
Bug of the Month
There was something in FreeBSD -CURRENT which threatened to trash my file systems, but never did.
Vote of the Month
The U-C Senate's vote to retire Chief Illiniwek as our school mascot. That got me cheered for a few minutes.
Move of the Month
Jessy is moving with this guy Dion to Texas. She's taking Dinkum with her. The house is being re-done, the times they are a changin' and yadda dee yadda da, she's homeless, though not ... It's a suprise, it's a foolish, impulsive, mistake, depending who you ask. We'll see how life's dramas play out, I figure I can't tell what good nor bad might happen. If nothing else, it should be a learning experience for the little sis and maybe she'll get more perspective.

Wise men say, only fools rush in,
But I can't help, falling in love, with you

Elvis Presley

In other news, Jeong and Jonathan broke up, again, but for real this time. I got an email back from Asao about the long email I sent her. She explained once again ... well, I needn't get into that, frankly, the issue is now done beyond death, and there's nothing more to come of it.

March Madness, it's called. If your relationship survived the month intact, thank your deities. If you still understand what's going on in your life, well ... gee, what's your secret?

Well, nothing's particularly changed with me. Same old same old, more or less, somewhat.
