Say ya to da UP, eh?

28-12-97 22:35

It's 11:35 here in Michigan. Jessie had wanted to visit Grandma up here but Grandma had been feeling too ill lately and regretfully had to decline. However, Dad came to town and was going to make the trip anyway, and I had the free-time to join him. Jessy unfortunately has classes she can't afford to miss and was pretty disappointed, to say the least, that she couldn't make it.

Well, so me and dad drove up rather leisurely through the dark and Wisconsin last night. We talked quite a bit along the way, which kept Dad sufficiently awake that I did not have to help him drive that stick-shift car of Gwen's. We arrived roughly equivalent to Uncle Bill's wake-up time, and so got to chat with Grandma and Bill awhile before we both retired to wake up early in the afternoon.

The day has been pretty lazy and we'll head back sometime tomorrow since I'm picking up Moshen, Tim, and some other guy who needs a ride to drive 'm into Chicago to participate in New Years celebrations.

Moshen has apparently taken upon himself some concern for promoting my love-life, and I think we are both interested in doing something for Dave. It actually seems to make some sense, these connections, because after all we are not only friends but we also tend to share similar taste in women. Moshen had mentioned one lady he would have liked to have brought with and when she couldn't make it he called up Kat and invited her along, and she said she could bring some friends. When I talked to him today he seemed a little upset with her sudden cancellation. I was also a little upset and I think we both wondered similarly if she still might not be trying to avoid me or something. I was kinda happy though at the idea of Tim coming along. Given a trip to Grandma's house, I tend to worry less about women anyways.

Worrying about women though, the quiet news is that Dad married Gwen. Grandma wasn't particularly thrilled to hear this piece of news, but hopes the best for him anyway. He does seem to be doing well enough for himself out there and despite Grandma's prudent misgivings I can't help but share Dad's optimistic analysis that things should work out for the best. It tends to sound that things are going rather well out there for all parties concerned - Dad, Gwen, Jason and Dezi, and that alone is enough to give me some hope as far as that whole situation is concerned.

Bed-time.
