Everybody in da House!

Mon Dec 8 19:17:04 CST 1997

I feel like bitching.

The crap started this morning when I got an email from Katarina sayin' that really, perhaps we shouldn't have a relationship, or really, she's just not equipped for it right now, emotionally and all. That was okay with me, you know? I feel like I lost a little, but I really understand where she's at, so I'm not pissed or anything. It just adds to my bitchiness.

Then, well I'm working on this paper ... research paper for 381 ... I just am not so interested in it, you know? but it keeps me occupied, otherwise I might be more bummed about the Kat thing, or something else. It's kinda like this just big dull thing.

But the thing that really pissed me off was dinner. In the commons, there's piles of overflowing garbage consisting of cardboard pizza containers, paper bags, and soiled paper and plastic wrap food containers. That's right, they moved this new "Quickie" service into the Allen South cafeteria, and everybody freaking went for it.

Okay, normally, you get in line, grab a tray and some plates, silverware and napkins and stuff, and lay your slop on your stuff and eat it. The new "Quickie" service involves you grabbing a certain quotient of items, bagging them up, and then leaving the cafeteria to eat them.

Now, i don't have anything against that in principle, but I find it extraordinarily disheartening that everyone in Allen Hall, a dorm filled with people who seem like progressive and thoughtful folk, for no really good reason, went for a service that creates a lot of garbage which they didn't even bother to recycle. not that you can recycle a soiled paper food container, or that there are bins available in the commons, but why the fuck did everyone get their containered food, bag it up, and then walk a few yards outside of the damned cafeteria to eat it?

It just pisses me off that people seem so thoughtless. i just don't get it.

And then a lotta people were down the hall on Ground South eating dinner in front of the television.

I really hope it's just a fad, and that people will come to their senses. Just seeing the piles of garbage out in the commons makes me feel real sad. Even sadder than losing a girlfriend, or potential girlfriend, rather.

Now to go back to work on my paper ...
