Just a Perfect Day ...

Well, I really should be starting on the story due Monday. We're lookin' at likely something ... well, the narrative of a tree being cut down, talking about the bipeds who are starting to become worrisome as they're like all over the freakin' place. Well, we'll see, strikes me as difficult. This has been a busy week.

I think I can do standard straight patch cable from memory now. Did a few on Thursday. I'll try to get a schedule up soon.

I went through and bought a new computer. Bad memory, the hard disk is only 1.2G - yeah, got that shipped in. Been spending much more time than I should fixing the thing up. AMD-K5 133 with 512k cache and 16M. I could use more mem, but no biggy. Got XFree86 up and running. I'd like to figure out how to get it running in both 800x600 and 24 bits ... and no, this Unix stuff is still not for the faint of heart. Not yet.

RealAudio playin'. I like. Good thing they make it for Unix. I can listen to public radio without worrying how I can tune it in the room, pretty impossible, AM.

Right now makin' backups of home directories on dannyland, gonna store on arh0135. The keen of you have realized that my new machine has managed to get the same IP as Dannyland had when it was down here. Nift?

In a way though, the distraction has it's use, as me and Asao are having an argument. I don't think it'll become anything terribly brutal, but for the while, it's just kinda hard to get your mind straight when you're trying to write a story, and dealing with conflict really throws me off.

The Rhetoric Department has a new "Professional Writing" track and yours truly is in it. It looks slightly Linguistic, we'll see. Not much to say, but I don't have to take Shakespeare of Literature courses. I'm not feeling to babble about it right now.

Ang Lee is a University of Illinois Alumnus. I attended a lecture thingy with him on Wednesday. Ran in to the DI girl, talked with Asako, who lives around Allen, and Anne who teaches a class here. Anne Tanaka. Both conversations somewhat enjoyable. There wouldn't have been any conversation without the excellent reception spread they had laid out for us.

What else? Can't say much. Mom is in Florida and Grandpa's down with a collapsed lung again, only word is it ait quite as serious as last time. Hope so.
