I live near San Jose, Cali. Bought my Insight in Chicago, IL, sight unseen, MSRP. (Out here they were very hard to get, and often had markup.) Now, this is comparison to 1972 VW Superbeetle which I drove same 2,100 mile route down I-80 the year before with all of my stuff. :) Okay, so, I have to say Beetle's seat was more comfortable. I can not get the Insight seat to sit straight upright like I like, and after many hours at a slight recline my legs and back can't take it. Both cases having a lumbar pillow (stuffed animal) wsa wonderful, but I really love the Beetle's seat. Now, realize that Insigt is the first "modern" car I've drive, but the interior is plenty spacious for me. Would be nice if I had more room to stretch my legs from side to side, but ... cruise control would be nice, but the more work I have to do the more attention I pay to how conscious I am. Small car means that you get scared of killing yourself easier when you get tired. I think this is a good thing because then you pull over. Sleeping in the Insight SUCKS ASS. Get a sleeping bag and a ground cloth and find a nice picnic table at a rest stop. The biggest problem here is that the seat can not recline anywhere near vertical, so your only hope is to try and sprawl across both seats in a narrow car. Fortunately the windows are plenty wide for you to stick your feet out of. Insight gets more gawkers. At least it did last year. Now, my breakdown: 1972 Super Beetle 2000 Honda Insight Driver's Seat Very Good Good Cargo Space Good Poor Mileage 25 MPG 55 MPG Cruising speed 70-80 MPH 70-80 MPH Reliability Broke Down in WY Purred like a kitten Gawkers Some More Gas Range 250 mi 500-600 mi Steep Hills 35 MPH in second 60 MPH in second Climate Control Roll window down Mmmmm, AC! Noise? puttputtputtputtputtputt tires on highway / wind Sleep? Poor Terrible Safety? Ha! Well, somewhat better. :) Spare tire? Full Size! Donut. Retail Price $500-$3,000 $15,000-$25,000 Budget? $500 $200 Reccomended application: The 1972 VW Super Beetle is ideal for broke college student transporting all worldly possessions to California in a week between graduation and starting work. The 2000 Honda Insight is a clearer choice for one who can afford creature comforts like reliability and mp3s, and if you plan on making many longer trips. :) -danny Community email addresses: Post message: honda-insight@onelist.com Subscribe: honda-insight-subscribe@onelist.com Unsubscribe: honda-insight-unsubscribe@onelist.com List owner: honda-insight-owner@onelist.com Shortcut URL to this page: http://www.onelist.com/community/honda-insight Your use of Yahoo!
