philosophy
- the current american lifestyle is unsustainable.  we may be forced to
  reckon with this by 2016.  but we should figure out what about
  ourselves we like, and what about ourselves we should move backwards
  or forwards on.  for example, we should de-emphasize personal
  automobile for getting around, and move back to our feet / public
  transportation.  we should de-emphasize fossil fuels by going back to
  renewable forms of energy by going forward to stuff like bio-diesel,
  photovoltaics, energy consrervation, etc.  do something about the
  mind-rot that is tv.  move forward to more ecologically sustainable
  diets.

- life is to be enjoyed.  don't take yourself too seriously.  get the
  job done, and get over stupid things that piss you off for no apparent
  reason.  i will help you by bringing up things that piss you off but
  that shouldn't rule your life.

- the most critical component of government is the person who knows how
  to govern themselves.  at the base level, we each need to act.  in the
  big picture, the government needs to be run with an eye towards "how
  can the government facilitate what we generally agree that our goals
  are?"  dialog on what the best goals are needs to be conducted beyond
  the realm of monied interests.

- the economy is a tool that serves social ends.  while it generally
  tunes itself with some degree of efficiency, there is nothing sacred
  about the "free market."  tampering with the "free market" should be
  undertaken with some humility.  we do x today, but with an eye towards
  the market doing x itself tomorrow.  it is important to push x along.
  where the "free market" does not provide for y, we'll just have to do
  it ourselves.

- dannyman is a C student who, while quite intelligent and capable of
  quick wit, gets distracted easily, and is more enchanted with stylized
  substance than substantial substance.  ralph nader and noam chomsky
  can work out the details with the other harvard kids.

platform
- pack the supreme court with native americans, women, latinos, and
  whomever else deserves a turn.  but especially native americans.  give
  flaming queers preference for other givernment appointments.

- you need a notorized note from your mother, or proof that she is dead,
  before you can ride motorcycle without a helmet
- national health care system.  get over it already
- immigration preferences for non-majority groups
- settle the score with iraq
- surrender the drug war, treat social ills as diseases, focus on africa
  aids problem if they're not all dead by 2016
- open trade with cuba.  while this threatens electoral votes in
  florida, demonstrate flair by touting open trade with cuba as good for
  pissing off cubans.  use that elian picture with a good slogan.
- race is a problem.  let us acknowledge our racist tendancies and keep
  them on the edge of our consciousness to figure out how to some day
  eliminate the necessity for being conscious of it in the first place.
  ditto every other ism.  learn the difference between enjoying the
  things that make us distinctive, and casting people in a certain role
  prejudicially when it is inappropriate.  apply the golden rule to this
  task.
