Among the things she experienced, she involuntarily took part in an impromptu gay and lesbian pride rally that spontaneously appeared, rallied, and dispersed all within a span of less than 5 minutes. She was sitting on a park bench, minding her own business, when this happened, and was left sitting alone when it was all over. She had no problem with that, as she participates in gay and lesbian events in Chicago, and she's made it very clear that she supports their rights. But at the same time she felt used, like her private moment alone was violated. She tells me, 'I love my adopted people, but if this wasn't San Francisco, I would've turned right-wing on them for involving me in that situation.' She had fun though, and one of her very colorful and artsy self-portraits from that trip now decorates one of the desktop backgrounds on the computers we use.
